Although the region took its first steps into winter on Friday, the day before was much warmer.
Environment Canada says heat records were set in six communities in southern Alberta on Thursday, Nov. 13.
Claresholm was the hottest, reaching a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius. This broke the community’s record that was set 35 years ago in 1990.
The rural area of Onefour, located in the southeast corner of the province, broke its heat record that had been standing for the last 92 years. It got up to 19.8 degrees on Thursday.
