The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has arrested three people in connection with widespread thefts, among other offences.

On November 10, LPS says members of its Downtown Policing Unit noticed the gate to a storage compound on the 300 block of 10 Street South had been left open.

Officers say they found a man inside, accessing open units and sea cans, as well as several power tools believed to be related to a break and enter.

The man was not the owner of the storage unit and was arrested for trespassing.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at the storage facility. LPS claims to have recovered around $60,000 worth of stolen power tools that had been linked to five separate B&Es, as well as stolen firearms, ammunition, and a small quantity of fentanyl.

Then on Thursday, Nov. 13, police conducted a second search at a home on the 1800 block of 58 Street South, recovering additional stolen property that was related to another five break-ins.

The stolen items from the second search include $25,000 worth of power tools, electric scooters and bikes, airsoft guns and more. A truck, which had previously been stolen from Crowsnest Pass, was also recovered, and officers seized drug paraphernalia and boxes of ammunition.

“Police have evidence to suggest the two male occupants of the home have been accepting stolen property as payment for drugs,” reads a news release from LPS.
