A local company is investing in the future of student-athletes in Lethbridge.

The University of Lethbridge (U of L) has announced a five-year partnership with KB Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning Ltd. (KB Heating).

They will become the new Community Corner sponsor for Pronghorn Athletics.

As part of the agreement, KB Heating will contribute $20,000 over five years to support the Community Centre, which provides local youth with access to Pronghorn home games.

They have also established a $25,000 endowment to support student-athlete scholarships and contributed an additional $25,000 to the University’s Board of Governors matching fund.

Chris Bruce, marketing and sales manager at KB Heating, says they believe in the power of athletics to inspire excellence, leadership and community spirit.

“Partnering with the Pronghorns allows us to invest in student-athletes who work hard, give back and represent the values we share — dedication, teamwork and perseverance,” says Bruce.

The company already has a long-standing relationship with the U of L, having supported Pronghorn programs in the past and by working on several campus expansion projects.

Kristen DeMone, manager of development and sales for Pronghorn Athletics, says KB Heating has a strong history of giving back to the community, and she is grateful for helping to ensure that games are accessible to youths.

“Their culture of family and people first, and values of hard work, dedication and excellence mirror our program and the expectations we have of our student-athletes. We are proud to have the support of the team at KB Heating,” says DeMone.

KB Heating has been serving southern Alberta for more than 35 years.
