Southern Alberta remains under snowfall & blowing snow warnings

Nov 28, 2025 | 9:19 AM

Residents of southern Alberta woke up to the first significant snowfall of the season on Friday morning, and more snow is on the way.

The snowfall warning that was issued by Environment Canada on Thursday remains in effect.

It called for between 15 and 20 cm of snow by the end of Friday evening, and that is still the case.

Although snowfall totals from the last 24 hours have not been reported, the weather forecaster is calling for another five centimetres to fall today.

A new alert for the region is a blowing snow advisory, as Environment Canada says the combination of wind and snow will result in reduced visibility.

Blowing snow is expected to develop later this morning and last until the evening.

Drivers are asked to consider postponing all non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you do need to hit the road, they say to drive slowly, turn your lights on, and maintain a safe following distance.

Lethbridge is forecast to have a high of -11 degrees Celsius on Friday. Temperatures are expected to warm up early next week, with a high of zero on Monday and low pluses on Tuesday to Thursday.
