Two organizations in southern Alberta are set to receive grants to make renovations to their buildings.

Farm Credit Canada has announced that 81 community projects across the country will be getting a combined $1.5 million in grants from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund.

André Surprenant, senior vice president of ag production at FCC, says all the projects reflect a community coming together to address a need.

“We are proud to play our part in supporting those efforts and contributing to these essential spaces, services and infrastructure that help rural communities thrive,” says Surprenant. “These projects show what’s possible when local vision and national support work hand in hand.”

Grants will be awarded to 12 groups in Alberta, two of which are in southern Alberta.

The Interfaith Food Bank in Lethbridge will utilize $23,000 in funding to replace the aging HVAC units in its South Warehouse facility.

As well, $20,000 will be given to the Willow Creek Agricultural Society. They plan to install infrared heaters in the indoor riding arena at the Claresholm Agriplex.

The FCC AgriSpirit Fund provides between $10,000 and $25,000 to community improvement initiatives that enrich the lives of residents.
