Province announces $2-million for future francophone schools
The Alberta government has announced new funding to develop new francophone schools across the province.
$2-million dollars will be shared among all four of the province’s francophone regional boards to potentially develop 20 future schools.
“To meet the challenge of growing student numbers, we are building schools now and supporting school boards as they prepare for the future,” says Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education and Childcare, in a press release. “This investment is a crucial starting point for new school developments and will help francophone students continue to thrive in excellent learning spaces.”
“The Alberta government’s investment allows planning to start early so students get the schools they need, close to home,” adds Martin Long, Minister of Infrastructure. “By investing $2 million in pre-planning, francophone authorities can fast-track identifying sites and engaging communities to construct modern learning spaces for future student needs.”
