Phase one of Crowsnest Trail Pathway now open

Dec 16, 2025 | 12:02 PM

Pedestrians travelling near a busy roadway in Lethbridge now have a safer way get by.

The City of Lethbridge says the first phase of the Crowsnest Trail Pathway is now complete and open for public use.

This section runs east along the south side of Crowsnest Trail (Hwy 3) from Mayor Magrath Drive South and 4 Avenue South until 28 Street South.

The pathway has safety features like steel guardrails and buffer zones to keep users safe from nearby traffic.

Construction on phase two starts in the spring.

It will go through the WT Hill Business Park and will include a protected pedestrian rail crossing, intersection upgrades, and increased pedestrian connections.

The pathway will end at 4 Avenue South and WT Hill Boulevard South, and will be positioned to connect to the MPE Link Pathway in the future.

Weather permitting, the pathway is expected to be complete by the end of August 2026.
