Lethbridge doctor appointed Alberta’s new chief medical officer of health
Her name should be familiar to most who have worked in healthcare in Alberta’s South Zone over the last several years.
Dr. Vivien Suttorp has been selected as Alberta’s new, permanent Chief Medical Officer of Health, effective December 18, 2025.
She has worked in public health, preventative and community medicine in both urban and rural settings for over 25 years.
Dr. Suttorp has also served as the lead medical officer of health for the South Zone for the last 17 years, overseeing all aspects of public health, while supporting workplace health and safety, and infection prevention and control.
