Holiday Traditions Around the World Celebration

The SAEA proudly hosted its annual Holiday Traditions Around the World Celebration on Dec. 13, 2025, at the Multicultural Centre.

Officials say this joyful and inclusive cultural festival brought together the customs, stories, and festive flavours of global holiday traditions, shining a light on the richness of cultural diversity in Southern Alberta. SAEA SAY the event celebrated how communities around the world mark the holiday season through music, dance, food, and storytelling.

Organizers say the celebration featured a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary holiday performances from cultures across the world. They say guests experienced colourful displays of festive décor, sampled seasonal dishes from various cultures, and participated in interactive, family-friendly activities including games, and cultural storytelling. Attendees also enjoyed festive fashion shows, education booths, and artisan vendors showcasing handmade gifts and traditional items.

Officials further note, the event welcomed many attendees and featured meaningful contributions from local cultural organizations and member groups, creating a space for learning, connection, and honouring the diverse ways communities come together to celebrate the holiday season.

Organizers acknowledge the event was made possible through the support of the City of Lethbridge Community Event Support Grant.

The SAEA has been showcasing ethnic diversity in Southern Alberta Since 1977, by highlighting different global cultures, languages, cuisines, cultural dancing, performances and ethnic music, as well as thoughts and philosophies.
