Now that we are in a brand new year, it is time to look back on some of the biggest news stories of 2025 for southern Alberta and the province.

We have gone through the archives to find the 15 most viewed news stories of the year on LethbridgeNewsNow.com.

Premier Danielle Smith was a hot topic of conversation throughout 2025, as stories about her and her various policies appeared four times on the list.

An article about Smith’s comments regarding Alberta partnering with Japan on food and energy was viewed more than 94,000 times and was the top story on our site all year.

Stories about the weather were featured three times on the list, with two focusing on cold winter weather, while another talked about the wind.

In terms of video content, LNN had its biggest-ever TikTok upload on January 31, as the video about an American serial killer living in Taber for 49 years before her death accumulated 625,000 views.

Other popular videos include news that Alberta’s 51,000 teachers would be going on strike, the “very cold” winter forecast for 2025-26, and a rally in support of healthcare workers.
