The City of Lethbridge is thanking the public for stepping up to make simple, water-smart upgrades to their homes.

The Environmental Incentive Program launched on Earth Day 2025, offering rebates for low-flow toilets and rain barrels.

Homeowners were eligible for rebates for two low-flow toilets and two rain barrels last year. Each rebate covered 50 per cent of the cost, up to $100 each.

The inaugural year saw more than 360 rain barrel rebates approved, and over 140 for low-flow toilets.

“We heard loud and clear that residents wanted support to make conservation upgrades at home,” says Environmental Manager Mark Svenson. “The response in our first year makes it clear that Lethbridge residents are committed to protecting our water and our environment. We’re grateful for the community’s enthusiasm.”

More details on the 2026 rebate program will be shared later.
