An American medical drama is showcasing a local UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The premiere episode of season two of The Pitt has been released on Crave.

Dr. Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle, mentions that he will be taking a sabbatical to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.

Tanya Fir, Alberta’s Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women, shared a clip from the show, saying, “As the series celebrates its 2026 Golden Globe wins, we are proud to see how Alberta’s history, stories and cultural landmarks continue to leave a lasting impression on audiences around the world!”

Located approximately 18 kilometres west of Fort Macleod, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.

Its Interpretive Centre aims to preserve over 6,000 years of Plains Buffalo culture, featuring vast landscapes, exhibits and diverse programming.

Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo Jump is situated at the southern tip of the Porcupine Hills. First Nations tribes would herd buffalo into a stampede and drive them over a cliff.

This was a common practice for thousands of years, and undisturbed layers of bones can still be found at the bottom.
