Canada Strong Pass temporarily ending, Discovery Passes extended

For the next five months, normal fees for Canada’s national parks and museums will be returning for many.

During specific times of the year, the Canada Strong Pass automatically grants free entry into national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada for all residents and visitors. There are also discounted rates for campsites and overnight stays with Parks Canada.

Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, is the last day for the current Canada Strong Pass period.

The next period is from June 19 to Sept. 7, 2026, inclusive.

Until then, most Canadians will be subject to typical fees at these sites and facilities.

However, for those who have purchased a Discovery Pass, the expiration dates are being extended.

These offer many similar benefits to the Canada Strong Pass, but are valid outside of the Strong Pass periods and must be purchased.

This website has a pass expiration calculator to see when your Discovery Pass is valid until. You can also learn more about the Canada Strong Pass and the Discovery Pass.
