The Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO) and Westco Construction are proud to announce the grand reopening of their newly-renovated woodshop.

The Westco Woodshop is heralded as a major community investment in hands-on learning, creativity, and active aging for older adults.

Westco Construction is the new namesake sponsor for the facility, which will relaunch at the grand opening event on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 1:00 p.m.

LSCO Executive Director Kaitlynn Weaver says Westco has secured three-year naming rights to the woodshop, reflecting their long-term commitment to LSCO members and the community.

“We’re so excited to reopen the woodshop and deeply grateful to the team at Westco Construction and the many volunteers who made this initiative possible,” says Weaver. “Westco’s team has shown incredible commitment to building our community (both literally and figuratively), and we’re truly thankful that the LSCO is among the beneficiaries of their generosity.”

The renovated Westco Workshop will provide a safer, brighter, and more functional environment for older adults to build skills, social connections, and confidence.

It features an enhanced layout and updated equipment, which were donated by the estate of John Unrau.

Weaver says the Westco Workshop will be a great place for both seasoned tradespeople and beginners who are looking to try something new.

The grand opening event will take place at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization on 500 11 Street South, and will include a ribbon-cutting and tours of the Westco Workshop.
