City of Lethbridge upgrading electricity meters
Some people in Lethbridge will be getting new electricity meters in the near future.
The City of Lethbridge Electric Utility Department is upgrading residential and commercial electricity meters that are due for testing.
The meters have a 10-year lifespan, and regulations set by Measurement Canada require that a percentage of older meters be sent for testing to ensure accuracy.
If the meters pass inspection, the lifespan of the remaining expired meters will be extended for another eight years. If they fail, additional expired meters may require replacement.
