Lethbridge-born Taylor Austin competing at 2026 Olympics

A man from southern Alberta is set to compete at his second Olympic Games.

Taylor Austin will take part in bobsleigh events at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games, which run from Feb. 6-22.

The 36-year-old was born in Lethbridge but now resides in Calgary.

He made his Olympic debut in 2022, finishing 20th and 23rd in two-man and four-man events, respectively.

Austin earned his second consecutive appearance at the winter Olympics by capturing three gold medals and one bronze in the 2025 Pan American Championships.

Austin will try to become the first Canadian to win gold in bobsleigh competition since 2014, when Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse finished first in the two-woman race.

Six other bobsleigh athletes who are set to compete at this year’s Olympics have ties to Alberta:

  • Yohan Eskrick-Parkinson – Calgary (birthplace)
  • Melissa Lotholz – Barrhead (birthplace)
  • Bianca Ribi – Calgary (hometown)
  • Dawn Richardson Wilson – Edmonton (hometown)
  • Kelsey Mitchell – Sherwood Park (hometown)
  • Skylar Sieben – Cochrane (hometown)

The bobsleigh events at the 2026 Games will take place Feb. 15-17 and 20-22.
