The RCMP has arrested a man following an incident in Brooks.

Just before 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, officers warned the public of a heavy police presence on the 200 block of Ingram Park Drive.

They were responding to a report of an intoxicated man causing “significant damage” inside a home with a weapon.

RCMP officers say they made several attempts to contact the suspect.

He reportedly became agitated and barricaded himself in the home and refused to comply with police commands.

The Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Crisis Negotiation Team were called in to assist.

After numerous demands for the suspect to surrender, he was arrested about four hours later and brought into custody.

Kevin Ramsdale, 38, of Brooks, is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, as well as one count each of assaulting a police officer, mischief and intent to cause an explosion.

He has been remanded into custody and is set to appear in court in Brooks on Feb. 5, 2026.
