Lethbridge rent prices fall slightly to $1,528/month

A new report shows that the cost to rent an apartment or condo in Lethbridge was relatively unchanged to kick off the new year.

Rentals.ca and Urbanation have released the latest National Rent Report, which covers January 2026.

They say homes in the city rented for an average of $1,528 per month.

One-bedroom units went for $1,369 per month, which is down by 2.3 per cent compared to one month ago, while prices have fallen by 1.7 per cent in the last year.

Homes with two bedrooms averaged $1,570 on a monthly basis, which is up by 1.4 per cent compared to December 2025, and by 0.7 per cent from last January.

A total of 60 communities across the country were analyzed for this report. Lethbridge was the eighth cheapest.

Albertan communities took up six spots on the list of the 10 most affordable cities and towns.

The provincial average for rental costs was $1,754 per month, which decreased by 4.6 per cent over the last year.

The eight communities in Alberta that were part of this report are listed below in descending order of price. Their place on the national ranking out of 60 is shown in brackets:

  • Airdrie (35)
    • Total: $1,954/month
    • One bedroom: $1,450/month (down 3.4% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,739/month (down 0.9% annually)
  • Calgary (42)
    • Total: $1,871/month
    • One bedroom: $1,535/month (down 4.1% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $$1,850/month (down 3.9% annually)
  • Edmonton (51)
    • Total: $1,591/month
    • One bedroom: $1,279/month (down 3.9% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,619/month (down 2.6% annually)
  • Lethbridge (53)
    • Total: $1,528/month
    • One bedroom: $1,369/month (down 1.7% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,570/month (up 0.7% annually)
  • Red Deer (55)
    • Total: $1,529/month
    • One bedroom: $1,219/month (down 2.4% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,489/month (up 5.9% annually)
  • Fort McMurray (57)
    • Total: $1,370/month
    • One bedroom: $1,167/month (down 3.6% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,419/month (down 1.3% annually)
  • Medicine Hat (58)
    • Total: $1,372/month
    • One bedroom: $1,217/month (down 0.1% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $$1,395/month (up 0.1% annually)
  • Lloydminster – Alberta side (59)
    • Total: $1,235/month
    • One bedroom: $1,025/month (up 0.1% annually)
    • Two bedrooms: $1,340/month (up 7.7% annually)

If you feel that your rental in Alberta is too expensive, at least you do not live in North Vancouver, which is the most expensive city in the country for rent. Rentals there average $2,958 per month, which is nearly double that of Lethbridge.
