Monday, Feb. 16, is the latest statutory holiday, and there is plenty for families in Lethbridge to do.

City of Lethbridge – Free Family Day Skating

The City of Lethbridge’s Recreation & Culture department is inviting the community to enjoy free public skating at two local arenas. On Monday, February 16, bring your family, your skates and your holiday spirit for a fun and active way to spend the day together.

Cavendish Farms Centre 74 Mauretania Road West 10 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Logan Boulet Arena 1302 9 Avenue North 10:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

All ages are welcome. No admission cost – just lace up and enjoy quality time on the ice!

University of Lethbridge – Play Day

The biggest play event in southern Alberta once again takes place on Family Day, February 16, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the University of Lethbridge.

Initiated in 2012, Play Day is rooted in the celebration of family through the joy of simple play. Play Day has become a tradition for many families and with Westco Construction as the presenting sponsor, ULethbridge is able to offer even more to attendees this year.

“Play Day is about more than an afternoon of fun. It is about creating spaces where families connect, kids explore and community comes together,” says Taunya Pickles, Marketing & Communications Manager, Westco Construction.

Casa – Family Fun Day

Celebrate Family Day with a creative and fun-filled experience at Casa! On Monday, February 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Casa invites families to come together and participate in a variety of free, drop-in activities designed for all ages to enjoy.

Families can explore hands-on activities such as Box City, Button Making, Community Painting, and Drawing. Music lovers can engage with the uLethbridge Conservatory of Music through Drawing to Music and World Drumming sessions, providing a dynamic and immersive experience for participants.

Registration for summer camps opens online on Family Day.

Helen Schuler Nature Centre

Looking for a relaxed and memorable way to spend Family Day together? Get outside and have some fun in the river valley!

Visit the Nature Centre on Monday, February 16th, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities that you and your family can enjoy at your own pace.

Families can explore the Nature Reserve with a self‑guided Animal Tracking activity. Pick up a booklet and pencil at the Nature Centre kiosk, find the track rubbing plates along the trails and match the animals to their tracks!

If you are looking for more things to do over Reading Week, visit the Nature Centre on February 21st between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. for a Nature Play Pop Up with Lethbridge Plays.

Discover the magic of loose parts play and let your imagination soar as you build and create using a variety of open-ended materials. Be sure to dress for the weather. All activities are drop-in and free!

Alberta Winter Games – stream for free

The Alberta Winter Games are being held this long weekend in the Lakeland Region in northern Alberta.

A total of 108 athletes from Lethbridge and the surrounding communities are competing in more than a dozen events.

The Games take place Feb. 13-16, and a livestream is available here.
