People are once again invited to do their part to support organ and tissue donation.

Green Shirt Day has launched its 2026 campaign with the theme, “One Decision Can Create a Lasting Ripple Effect.”

Taking place on April 7, Green Shirt Day was created in honour of Lethbridge’s Logan Boulet, who was one of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6, 2018. He died the following day.

Logan was a registered organ donor, and his donation saved six lives, which sparked a movement that led to more than 150,000 people registering as well.

Toby Boulet, Logan’s father, says, “Every year, Green Shirt Day reminds Canadians that a single act of compassion can have an extraordinary impact.”

His mother, Bernadine, adds, “When someone chooses to become an organ donor, they are not just helping one person – they are creating a ripple that reaches families and entire communities across Canada.”

The campaign launched with the unveiling of the 2026 logo, designed by Candace Sernowsky of Lorette West, Manitoba.

Her design won the Green Shirt Day National Logo Design Contest.

It features a flying puck, crossed hockey sticks, the green organ donation ribbon, and the 27 that was on Logan Boulet’s jersey.

“My love for hockey, my enthusiasm to be an organ donor, and my wish to honour the Humboldt Broncos tragedy and Logan Boulet’s gift of life inspired my design,” says Sernowsky. “My heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families who lost their loved ones, and to the Boulets for Logan’s incredible legacy.”

Organ donation is a personal matter to Sernowsky. On Sept. 29, 2025, she donated her left kidney through the Kidney Paired Donation Program in Vancouver.

Green Shirt Day shirts and merchandise can be ordered online here. Sales support Green Shirt Day, the Canadian Transplant Association, and the Logan Boulet Endowment Fund.

Organizers are also encouraging people to register as organ and tissue donors, have meaningful conversations with others about their donation wishes, and to wear green on April 7.
