River Valley fire ban lifted in Lethbridge

Feb 20, 2026 | 11:24 AM

The City of Lethbridge is once again allowing the public to use approved fire pits in the coulees.

It has lifted its fire ban for the River Valley, effective immediately.

The municipality says recent precipitation, cooler temperatures, and higher humidity levels have reduced the risk of fires in the area.

Although weather conditions have improved, residents are still asked to be careful when it comes to fire.

When having a recreational fire, only use clean and dry wood, keep fires small and supervised at all times, and ensure the flames are fully extinguished before leaving.

The City adds that it is important to ensure the smoking materials are disposed of properly, as they can quickly ignite fires.
