Lethbridge County partners with Rocket Doctor for free virtual care

Lethbridge County Reeve Tory Campbell says he has heard throughout his eight-year tenure on council about the lack of available family doctors in the region.

He adds that this leads to people filling up emergency rooms for things that should be taken care of by a family doctor.

“We want to be clear, this partnership is not meant to replace local healthcare providers,” says Campbell. “It’s meant to fill gaps, especially for residents who are currently without a family physician, and to provide another convenient option for non-emergency care from the comfort of the home or another secure location of their choice.”

Dr. Bill Cherniak, Founder and CEO of Rocket Doctor, says it is a convenient service for those who lack primary care options in their community.

The partnership with Lethbridge County is only the second for the organization. By partnering, the company will be able to provide data on who is using the service and for what purposes.

Cherniak says the goal is to refine its operations based on the needs of those in Lethbridge County.

Rocket Doctor is available to all Albertans free of charge, assuming they are enrolled in the regular provincial health program.

“Access to healthcare should not depend on postal code,” says Cherniak. “By partnering with Lethbridge County, we are delivering a localized, high-trust digital healthcare solution designed specifically for rural Albertans, making it easier for families to see a doctor, renew prescriptions, and manage their health without unnecessary travel or wait times.”
