Alternating turn signals being activated along 13 Street N in Lethbridge

The City of Lethbridge says drivers will soon notice some changes to traffic patterns.

Starting on the morning on Thrusday, Feb. 26, new alternating left-turn arrows will be installed at the intersection of 13 Street North and 9 Avenue North.

Only one direction will receive a flashing green left-turn arrow at a time.

“This approach creates a clear, predictable opportunity for each direction to turn left while helping vehicles move through the intersection more efficiently,” reads a news release from the City of Lethbridge.

Once in place, the alternating left-turn arrows will run during the following times:

  • Weekdays: 7:15 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The City does not anticipate any delays or disruptions to traffic during the changeover.

They say a similar system was introduced at 13 Street North and 5 Avenue North in March 2025, and that it has helped to improve traffic flow.
