Overnight fire damages two downtown businesses

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a downtown fire just after 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

City officials say crews from four stations were dispatched to 3 Avenue and 3 Street at the location of the Andrew Hilton Wine Merchants and Wooden Shoe Bakery.

Upon arrival, officials say there were visible flames and smoke coming from the back of the building which extended into the roof, causing significant damage to both businesses.

The city says there were no injuries reported and the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
