Montréal Victoire place captain Poulin on LTIR, sign defender Mattivi

MONTREAL — The Montréal Victoire have placed captain Marie-Philip Poulin on long-term injured reserve, the Professional Women’s Hockey League team announced Tuesday.

Poulin has been out since leaving in the first period of a March 15 game against Boston, when she started favouring her right leg after a collision with Fleet forward Shay Maloney.

She injured the same leg in a game against Czechia at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Feb. 9. It forced her to miss two games at the Olympics, and Montreal’s first PWHL contest following the Olympic break.

Poulin is eligible to return to the lineup on April 5.

Also Tuesday, the Victoire signed defender Nadia Mattivi to a standard player agreement.

Mattivi was captain of the host Italians at the Milan Cortina Games and had two assists in five games.

The 25-year-old blueliner is coming off her second professional season with Lulea HF in Sweden, where she posted five goals and 18 assists in 22 regular-season games. She added three goals and three assists in six playoff contests.

The Victoire says Mattivi has joined the team in St. Paul, Minn., ahead of their game Wednesday against the Frost.

Montreal entered Tuesday in third place in the PWHL, two points behind the Frost and the Fleet.
