Two students from Lethbridge Polytechnic have placed in the top three at the 2026 LaunchPoint Pitch Competition.

The school says first-year Criminal Justice student Patricia Wannamaker earned second place for her idea, Park My Pet, which proposes supervised pop-up kennel stations as an alternative to leaving dogs unattended in vehicles.

Third place went to Gavin Warmink, a first-year Business student, who partnered with a biology student from University of Lethbridge.

Their project, Southpaws Rescue, is a centralized platform designed to connect prospective pet owners with adoption organizations across southern Alberta.

Organizers say the competition gives students valuable experience developing and presenting business ideas to members of the local business community.
