Canada Soccer names roster for U-20 friendlies in Costa Rica

Apr 6, 2026 | 9:16 AM

Jeneva Hernandez Gray of Portugal’s Sporting CP and AFC Toronto’s Olivia Chisholm will join Canada’s women’s under-20 team for a pair of friendlies in Costa Rica this month.

The midfielders are among the expanded 30-player roster named by head coach Cindy Tye on Monday.

She says the camp is an opportunity for staff to “take a closer look at a wider pool of talent” within the program.

The group includes 14 players returning to the Canadian U-20 squad from the team that won the 2025 CONCACAF women’s U-20 championship in dramatic fashion in June.

Canada will be without scoring sensation Annabelle Chukwu (University of Notre Dame) after the 19-year-old forward was called up by the senior national team for the FIFA Series in Brazil.

The April camp, which includes games against Costa Rica on April 13 and 16, comes as Canada continues preparing for the FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup taking place in Poland in September.

“These matches will provide a valuable test for the group, allowing us to evaluate performances in a competitive setting and continue building on the standards we expect,” Tye said in a release. “It’s an important step as we continue our preparation for the World Cup.”
