Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden appoints new executive director

The Lethbridge and District Japanese Garden Society has appointed Jordan Jensen as the new executive director of Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.

Jenson recently served as director of the Heartland Training and Support Hub in Raymond, where he worked on programs for rural health and well-being.

Society president Dawn Sugimoto said Jensen brings experience in collaboration with government and industry partners, as well as organizational planning.

Jensen said the garden not only serves as a cultural landmark but as a community space, and that he plans to build on its existing foundation.

The society says he is taking over for Michelle Day-Miles, who is stepping down after 11 years with the organization.

Day-Miles is expected to remain through a transition period this spring and will depart June 30 as she relocates to Edmonton.
