Tourism Lethbridge is marking National Tourism Week (April 20–24) by highlighting the role tourism plays in the local economy following the release of its annual report.

The “Power of Tourism” report, presented at the organization’s annual general meeting (AGM) on April 16, suggests a shifting but steady visitor economy in Lethbridge.

In 2025, the report shows total visitor spending declined slightly by 0.7 per cent compared with 2024, while total trips to the region increased by 9.5 per cent.

International visits also rose by 9.4 per cent.

Lethbridge’s tourism sector includes 585 tourism-related businesses across accommodations, food and beverage, attractions and services.

Tourism Lethbridge CEO Erin Crane says, “While we’ve seen some shifts in visitor spending, growth in visitation shows that people are choosing Lethbridge. That continued interest is critical as we work with our partners to convert visits into longer stays and increased economic impact.”

Tourism officials say the sector’s impact extends beyond economics, contributing to community pride, cultural and recreational opportunities, and the sustainability of local amenities and events.

“Tourism doesn’t just benefit visitors, it benefits everyone who calls Lethbridge home,” Crane said.

“It creates opportunities, strengthens our local economy, and helps shape the experiences that make our city unique.”

Residents and businesses are being encouraged to take part in Tourism Week by exploring local attractions, supporting local businesses and recognizing tourism’s role in the community.
