Commemorating victims of workplace tragedies on the National Day of Mourning April 28
Lethbridge residents are being encouraged to attend a National Day of Mourning ceremony on Tuesday.
Marked annually in Canada on April 28, the National Day of Mourning serves to remember workers who have been injured, made ill, or lost their lives on the job. It reminds people of the importance of ensuring everyone gets home safely.
Organizers say the day recognizes those affected by work-related incidents. They say it provides the opportunity to commemorate coworkers, friends and family who have been affected by workplace tragedies and renews a commitment to preventing workplace injuries or fatalities.
In observance of the National Day of Mourning, the City of Lethbridge will host its annual memorial ceremony at the CUPE 70 Workers Memorial Site in Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. Attendance is open to the public.
