Cookie knockout underway in Coaldale, Taber

Apr 27, 2026 | 5:38 PM

The gloves are off, so to speak, in the 2026 Smile Cookie Knockout Challenge between the Tim Horton’s in Coaldale and its Taber counterpart.

After a banner year in 2025, where close to $24,000 was raised, the two restaurants will “duke it out” to see which location can sell more cookies.

Money raised from $2 cookies will then be divided between Family & Community Support Services in both communities.

“This year, we’re adding a fun playful twist with the CKO (cookie knockout),” said Kim Fehr, a Family Support Worker for FCSS, based out of Coaldale.

“We’re calling on Coaldale (residents) to step back into the ring and help us ‘knock out’ Taber once again. We know our town always shows up strong, and we’re counting on that same energy and support to bring home another win.”

While it’s all in fun, Taber FCSS team member Kim Forchuk adds, “the Smile Cookie Campaign is such an important part of our communities. The funds raised help us run programs that support mental health and strengthen skills and relationships for kids, families and seniors across Taber and the M.D. of Taber, helping people feel more connected and supported.”

Sales of Smile Cookies began Monday, April 27 and will end on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
