Mill Rate set in Crowsnest Pass

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass has adopted its 2026 Tax Rate Bylaw.

The document, formally approved by council at its April 22 meeting, includes a rise in the municipal mill rate of 0.26 per cent.

Translated, for a home valued at $350,000, that’s an increase of roughly six dollars.

The municipal district has also added, for the first time, a seniors housing levy of approximately $20, using the same benchmark.

However, one of the most notable aspects residents might see on their property tax notices, set to arrive in the mail by April 30, is the education levy collected by the Province, forecast to jump 18 percent this year.

Using the valued home of $350,000 as a gauge, the average increase will be about 43 dollars per ratepayer.
