SAEA acknowledges first decade in current home
It was a milestone, of sorts, for one non-profit Lethbridge agency this past Saturday, April 25.
The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association marked its 10-year anniversary at its current Multicultural Centre location.
Close to 350 visitors turned out to share in the recognition, which included cultural performances, displays, and workshops.
On the site of a historic former fire station owned by the City of Lethbridge, the group moved into its current home in 2016, and in that time, has hosted several festivals, workshops, and seminars.
In a statement, SAEA president Priti Maheshwari said the organization has been showcasing ethnic diversity in Southern Alberta Since 1977, by highlighting different global cultures, languages, cuisines, cultural dancing, performances and ethnic music, as well as thoughts and philosophies.
The association will celebrate an even-larger milestone next year – its 50th anniversary.
