Cool temperatures across southern Alberta early on Monday had some long-term weather records fall for April 27, according to Environment Canada.

A pair of 65-year-old weather records were broken in Medicine Hat and the Onefour area southeast of Manyberries.

Medicine Hat reached a low of -9.1 C to beat the previous mark set in 1961 of -8.3 C.

The Onefour area was a little colder at -9.8 C, to beat the old record of -8.9 C, also from 1961.

In the Brooks area, the 70-year-old mark of -9.4 C set in 1956 was beaten, with the new record from Monday at -10.3 C.

The same temperature of -10.3 C was recorded in the Milk River area, shattering the 2014 mark of -6.5 C.

It was even colder in the Waterton Park area, reaching a record low of -11, a drop from the 2005 mark of -8.4 C.
