City of Lethbridge to begin 2027 budget deliberations
Although we’re not quite half way through 2026, the City of Lethbridge is already looking at its operations in 2027.
On Thursday, Chief Financial Officer Darrell Matthews provided the Community Issues Committee, which includes members of Council, with next year’s provisional budget.
The document contains potential service level changes, the amount of funding that community groups might receive, and a rising rate of inflation, which Council will need to take into consideration when he formulates a plan.
“These budget pressures could put an upward burden on property taxes at a time when residents are businesses are also dealing with a high cost of living,” Mathews pointed out.
