Above seasonal temperatures predicted

Warming trend forecast for the region into next week

May 6, 2026 | 12:31 PM

While we just barely reached double digits criteria temperature-wise in Southern Alberta Tuesday, there will be a noticeable shift Wednesday with the mercury forecast to climb into the lower 20’s during the late afternoon hours.

Seasonal temperatures at this time of year are usually in the upper teens, however, Environment & Climate Change Canada is predicting daytime highs near 22 and temperatures well above zero through Friday, a slight cooling Saturday, and then sun and clouds and 24 degrees Celsius for Sunday and Monday.

As cool as it felt, with the northerly winds, there were temperature records set Tuesday anywhere in the province.
