Alberta gov’t encourages residents to complete federal census

May 8, 2026 | 4:05 PM

The Government of Alberta is encouraging Albertans to fill out their federal census forms, which have been arriving in mailboxes over the last several days.

Participation in the census will ensure Albertans get their fair share of federal funding to keep up with provincial growth, the province says.

“Census participation is about more than numbers – it’s about fairness, representation and ensuring Alberta’s growth is fully recognized and supported,” offered Nate Horner, president of treasury board and minister of finance.

Horner’s ministry also notes that Alberta’s population now exceeds five million people. This has put pressure on health care, social services, infrastructure, and key programs, meaning the census participation is as important as ever.
