MEMPHIS — Vancouver-born NBA player Brandon Clarke has died at age 29, the Memphis Grizzlies confirmed Tuesday.

The Grizzlies did not provide a cause of death for the forward in their announcement on X.

Clarke was drafted 21st overall in 2019 and played his entire career with the Grizzlies.

He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020.

Clarke was limited to two games in the 2025-26 season due to right knee surgery and a right calf strain.

Last month, he was arrested in Arkansas on charges including speeding and possession of a controlled substance.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement that Clarke was a “beloved teammate” who played with “passion and grit.”
