Wind Warning in place for eastern sections of Alberta

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Wind Warning for a large swath of eastern Alberta as a frontal system sweeps over the province.

Strong northwest winds with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast through the afternoon in Lethbridge and the surrounding regions to the north and south.

ECCC warns of reduced visibility with blowing dust in some locations and the potential for power disruptions.

Winds are expected to ease somewhat in the evening hours but remain between 40 and 60 km/h and between 30 and 50 km/h into Friday.
