Democrats settling House primaries in Pennsylvania swing districts, with Shapiro’s clout on the line
WARMINSTER, Pa. (AP) — Bob Harvie won the Democratic Party’s nomination Tuesday to run for a congressional seat in suburban Philadelphia.
Harvie, a Bucks County commissioner, will challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Bryan Fitzpatrick, a perennial target of Democrats. Harvie was backed by Gov. Josh Shapiro and the House Democrats’ campaign arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
He beat first-time candidate Lucia Simonelli.
Fitzpatrick is one of just three Republicans who won their 2024 House race in a district also won by Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
