Province “short-sighted’ in not funding integrated EMS model

A member of Alberta’s opposition says it’s time the UCP government steps up and funds integrated EMS in seven Alberta communities, including in his home riding.

Lethbridge-West MLA Rob Miyashiro calls it short-sighted for the government to consider anything but what’s in place now.

“It’s an important health care service. It’s a first response service that saves lives,” said Miyashiro in an interview last week, following the close of the spring session sitting.

“So, in the big picture of the healthcare system, you’re going to penalize those seven communities and municipalities for actually providing superior service to save lives.”
