Heavy rainfall behind ask from City of Lethbridge to conserve water usage
The City of Lethbridge is making a plea to its residents to be ‘smart’ about their water use over the next 48-72 hours.
An unusual amount of rainfall in the last day-and-a-half, it says, has washed a lot of mud and debris into the Oldman River, making the water much murkier than usual.
“This is creating some real challenges for (our) Water Treatment Plants as it works to keep our water clean and safe. Despite the murkier river conditions, tap water remains safe to drink.”
Included in the appeal from officials is to avoid outdoor water use, such as vehicle washing, keeping showers short or putting off any dishwashing or laundry, for now.
