Former Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar credits World Baseball Classic with showcasing talent
Vauxhall’s Adam Macko earned his second career Major League Baseball victory on the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday afternoon and former Jays’ outfielder Kevin Pillar likes what he’s seen, so far.
Here for last month’s Canadian Grand Slam of Baseball event in Lethbridge, Pillar credits tournaments, like the World Baseball Classic, for helping to showcase Canadian talent.
“He has an opportunity to be in the big leagues right now, if it wasn’t for some of the success he’s shown at the WBC on the big stage,” when asked if he’s had a chance to watch the 25-year-old Vauxhall Baseball Academy graduate.
“He always had a little bit of command issues, he had the stuff, but what he showed during the WBC is he was kind of built for the big moment, the big stage, he showed command, and he’s off to an incredible start.”
