Jun 17, 2026 | 2:56 PM

UPDATE: All Thunderstorm Watches have ENDED.

On Tuesday, it was central and eastern Alberta that experienced thunderstorms, hail, heavy rain, and at least one unconfirmed tornado sighting.

On Wednesday, unstable conditions are forecast for the southwest corner of the province and the Foothills.

As a result, Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch which includes the Kainai Nation, Cardston, Pincher Creek, Waterton National Park, and the Crowsnest Pass and surrounding areas in the south, to High River, Okotoks, and Bragg Creek to the north.

In a weather statement, ECCC said conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

The watch, the weather agency stated, will likely continue on into the evening hours.
