Tax Payment Deadline July 31, 2026

Coalhurst property assessment and tax notices in the mail

Jun 19, 2026 | 1:14 PM

The Town of Coalhurst has mailed 2026 Property Assessment and Tax Notices to property owners as of June 15, 2026.

Property taxes are due by Friday, July 31, 2026.

To avoid penalties, town officials note that payment must be received by the due date. Penalties for unpaid taxes are applied as follows:

  • 12% penalty on any unpaid 2026 tax balance beginning August 1, 2026
  • An additional 6% penalty on any remaining 2026 balance after October 31, 2026
  • 1.5% interest per month on any outstanding balance carried forward into the following year

Under Alberta’s Municipal Government Act, the town says tax notices are considered received seven days after they are mailed. Not receiving your notice does not remove the responsibility to pay your property taxes by the due date, officials point out.

Payment options

  • Online through your financial institution
  • Online using a credit card (note: additional charges apply)
  • In person at the town office
  • By dropping a cheque in the all-hours drop box at the entrance to the Town office
  • By cheque in the mail

Please note: When paying through online banking, please select Town of Coalhurst Taxes as the payee (or Town of Coalhurst Utilities if Taxes is not available) and use your tax roll number as your account number.

The town says it does not accept credit card payments in person.

Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP)

If you are enrolled in the TIPP, your monthly payment amount will automatically be adjusted beginning with your July 15 withdrawal. Because your taxes are paid through monthly installments, the July 31 payment deadline does not apply to you. The TIPP program must be started in January of any given year.

Questions about your assessment?
