Residential tax increase of 2.67 per cent

City Council adopts provisional 2027 Operating Budget at regular council meeting Tuesday

The City of Lethbridge’s 2027 operational budget was formally approved Tuesday in a unanimous vote by City Council.

With some more than 40-plus revisions, city residents are looking at an increase of 2.67 per cent to the municipal portion of their property taxes.

Mayor Blaine Hyggen says the spending plan contains minimal reductions in services and aligns with the City’s 2026-2029 Strategic Plan.

Next year’s 2.67 per cent is also a little less than 2024, 2025, and 2026 when the average increase was 2.8 percent over the three years.
