LPS says police, City, don't text for payments

Police, City texting scams threaten stiff penaltes if fines or tickets aren’t paid immediately

An apparent ticket text scam has made its way to Lethbridge.

Police say the fraudulent messages claim that the person must immediately pay for overdue fines and/or violations, or face stiff penalties.

LPS points out that police, the Alberta government, or City of Lethbridge do not send out text messages requesting payment.
