Lethbridge, Coalhurst to celebrate Canada’s 159th birthday Wednesday

“Visitors may also want to bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor activities as sitting on the grass may not be ideal.”

The wet conditions have also created the ideal breeding ground for mosquitos, so the City is reminding those coming out to bring bug spray.

One of the highlights, the fireworks, are scheduled for 11 p.m., weather permitting.

Galt Gardens will also play host to Party in the Park, again, this year with the Interfaith Food Bank hosting a breakfast fundraiser, beginning at 9 a.m.

The Le Barons Car Club car show will also take place at the park.

The Town of Coalhurst, meantime, is celebrating Canada’s 159th birthday Wednesday with a four-hour celebration of its own.

Miners Memorial Park will be centre stage for a community BBQ and birthday cake cutting, beginning at 11:30.

With soccer’s World Cup being co-hosted by Canada, the Coulee Kickers Soccer Association is putting on a five-on-five soccer tournament.

Music, lawn games, kids’ activities, and a slip ‘n slide provided by the town’s volunteer fire department, will also make up the celebrations, which go from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
