A 68-year-old woman is in a Calgary hospital, critically injured, after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in the Lakeview neighbourhood of Lethbridge.

An investigation by the Lethbridge Police Service found the unidentified woman was crossing the street, near the area of Lakemount Boulevard South and Forestry Avenue South, when she was hit by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old boy.

With no identification on her at the time, LPS made an appeal Friday to determine who she was.

Thankfully, someone did come forward when a photo of the keys she had was made public.

Police say the victim was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital, but later airlifted by STARS to Foothills Hospital in Calgary with life-threatening injuries.

Her condition isn’t known at this time.

Police say the investigation into the matter continues.
