Historian continues quest to document histories of some 2300 Lethbridge homes

Jul 14, 2026 | 5:45 AM

Lethbridge historian Belinda Crowson continues her in-depth research into the background of some 2,300 homes in the city.

But, with very limited information, and sometimes only tax records, Crowson has her work cut out for her.

“Because it means going through the directories and listing all the people who lived in that house for as early back as we can go to almost present,” Crowson explains.

“And, it means going through census records, newspaper records, and whatever else I can find to do a document for each house.”

“Yeah, I have 900 done now,” Crowson beams.

Her Summer Series tours, which feature some of the historic homes she’s documented in the past, take place every Thursday evening and Sunday morning through to the end of August, with the exception of August 6th and 9th.

You can contact the Lethbridge Historical Society for all the details on the tours.
